The content and typography on A List Apart feel like a lovely scholarly journal. It’s “for people who make websites”, ranging “from pixels to prose, coding to content,” plus the culture and design of websites.
Sit down and enjoy with a cup of tea.
A List Apart
Love at first site
I love typography – do you? From “Who Shot the Serif” to the factoid that 90% of monkeys can identity Helvetica (vs Arial or vs Times, we wonder), we’re hooked! Ooo – and a font game for the iPhone.
What the F***
We aren’t cursing for April Fool’s Day: it’s actually What the Font, a designer’s best friend. Upload an image of a word set in a font you would like to find and What the Font will do its best to figure it out for you. Magic. (Beware: this will not instantly make you into a designer!)
Rabbit is Rich
Here’s a treasure trove of classic book covers from the 70s and 80s. The designer who has posted the Flickr album has helpfully included most of the names of the fonts used. Listen carefully and you can just hear the Bee Gees on an 8-track in the background…
Ace Jet – typography galore
We love Ace Jet 170. As the strapline says, it’s a blog dedicated to ‘Found type, print and stuff’ – books, photos and eye-catching objects found anywhere from junk shops to littering the pavement. If you like interesting stuff – and we all do at heart – then here’s a great place to while away a happy few minutes.
